This Air Fry Bok Choy is made with sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic powder and air fried to perfection.

This Bok Choy is an amazing side dish that goes well with most Asian entrees like Drunken Noodles, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Feel free to add chili flakes to your looking for some spice!

A full head of bok choy is about a foot long – they’re huge! There are green parts and white parts. Bok choy will always be an awesome staple for Chinese cuisine. I ended up using baby bok choy since they are easier to fit in my air fryer, but you can use either.

Ingredients

  • Baby bok choy
  • Cooking spray
  • Sesame oil
  • Garlic powder
  • Sesame seeds
  • Soy sauce
  • Rice vinegar
  • Honey
  • Red pepper flakes

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

Rinse the bok choy and pat dry. Cut the baby bok choy lengthwise.

Spray the inside of the air fryer with non-stick cooking spray. Place the baby bok choy cut side up. Drizzle sesame oil and sprinkle garlic powder on the bok choy.

Air fry at 350°F for 5-6 minutes.

Meanwhile make the dipping sauce. Combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil and red pepper flakes.

Sprinkle the bok choy with sesame seeds and dip into the sauce.

Hint: I love using my Ninja Air Fryer for this recipe, as it makes the Bok Choy so crispy and the inside so juicy.

Substitutions

Bok Choy: I used baby bok choy since it is easier to fit in the air fryer, and I find it juicier in the core.

Sesame seeds: I love using sesame seeds for garnish, although everything but the bagel seasoning works wonders.

Garlic powder: If you do not have garlic powder, onion powder is always a good substitute.

Dipping Sauce: You can make any variation of the dipping sauce that you would like. If you aren't a fan of vinegar, feel free to skip it and use lime juice instead. As for the red pepper flakes, feel free to add more if you like the spice.

Variations

Cooking is a chance to be creative! Have fun with it and feel free to make your own variation.

  • Spicy - add chili pepper flakes while cooking to imbue heat into the dish.
  • Deluxe - add in soup or serve with Potstickers.
  • Kid friendly - add crushed wonton chips on top.

Equipment

Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Stone bakeware takes longer to heat up than metal pans, and also retain heat for longer, which could make the recipe more watery, or burnt on the outsides.

I love using my Caraway pots, pans and baking sheets for best quality. Get yourself a discount by clicking here!

Storage

This will be good in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing.

Top tip

Make sure to flip halfway of the air frying process.

This Bok Choy is absolutely delicious and I am obsessed with the texture of the bok choy. I have tried baking in the past, but it isn't remotely the same.
