Beef and Broccoli

  • Author: Maxine Dubois
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

This beef and broccoli dish is made with flank steak, broccoli, onions, corns starch, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and soy sauce.

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced across the grain
  • 3 cups small broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup sliced onions
  • 3 tablespoons corn starch or xanthan gum
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar or erythritol
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

  1. Add beef in a bowl and add the garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, and marinate for 3 hours.
  2. In a large deep saucepan on medium high heat, with tongs grab the steak and cook, flipping once, until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Keep the marinade. When the steak is cooked through, remove on a plate.
  3. Add the cornstarch and chicken broth into the marinade mixture.
  4. Wipe the skillet clean, lower heat to medium, heat up oil, and add the broccoli and onion. Cook the vegetables until the broccoli is tender, about 4 minutes. Pour in the marinade mixture and the steak and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  5. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.

  • To make the keto version, substitute sugar with erythritol and cornstarch with xanthan gum.
