Description

This Sausage Skewers Recipe is great when you have people over for a barbecue. All you really need are the three ingredients: onion, lime, and sausage. Charring the lime on the grill actually makes the skin edible!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Italian sausages
  • 1 large red onion
  • 2 limes
  • Sriracha sauce
  • Skewers (metal or wooden)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Cut the sausages into 1-inch pieces.
  3. Cut the red onion into chunks roughly the same size as the sausage pieces.
  4. Thread the sausage and onion pieces onto skewers, alternating between sausage and onion.
  5. Squeeze the limes over the skewers to add some acidity and flavor.
  6. Grill the skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the sausages are cooked through and the onions are caramelized and tender.
  7. Brush the skewers with Sriracha sauce during the last few minutes of cooking, to add some heat and extra flavor.
  8. Serve the skewers hot, with additional Sriracha sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Soak the skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling to prevent them from burning on the grill.
  • Choose high-quality Italian sausage for the best flavor.
  • Cut the sausages and red onions into similar sized pieces to ensure even cooking.
  • Thread the sausages and red onions onto the skewers, alternating between the two.
  • Brush the skewers with olive oil or a marinade before grilling for extra flavor.
  • Use tongs to turn the skewers frequently while grilling to ensure that they cook evenly.
  • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the skewers before serving for a burst of freshness.
  • Drizzle with Sriracha or your favorite hot sauce before serving for a spicy kick.
