Description

This Michelada Recipe with Clamato is made with a Mexican beer, clamato juice, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (12 oz) light Mexican beer like Corona or Sol
  • 1 cup clamato juice
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • Ice
  • Tajin
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Place Tajin on a plate. Rim two glasses with a lime and then dip the glasses into the tajin.
  2. Fill both glasses with ice and set aside.
  3. In a separate glass, add the Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lime juice and clamato juice and mix well.  Pour the beer into each prepared glass. Top each glass with the mixture until it reaches the rim.
  4. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Lime Juice: Squeeze fresh lime juice instead of using bottled lime juice for the best flavor. Fresh lime juice adds a tangy and bright element to the Michelada.
  • Experiment with Hot Sauce: Adjust the heat level of your Michelada by adding different types of hot sauce. Whether you prefer a mild or spicy kick, hot sauce allows you to personalize the level of heat to your liking.
  • Customize the Rim: Get creative with the rim of your glass. Mix salt with chili powder, Tajin seasoning, or even a touch of cayenne pepper to create a unique and flavorful rim that complements the drink.
  • Chill the Glass: Before pouring the Michelada mixture, chill the glass in the freezer for a few minutes. This will keep the drink colder for longer and enhance the refreshing experience.
  • Experiment with Beer Selection: While Mexican lagers like Corona and Sol are classic choices, feel free to try different types of light beers to find your favorite. Each beer has its own flavor profile, which can add a unique twist to your Michelada.
  • Garnish Creatively: Add extra flair to your Michelada by garnishing it with various ingredients. Lime wedges, cucumber slices, celery stalks, olives, pickled jalapeños, or even a small shrimp skewer can be used to enhance the presentation and flavor of the drink.
  • Adjust the Seasonings: Don't be afraid to adjust the amounts of Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, or hot sauce according to your taste preferences. Start with the suggested amounts in the recipe and gradually increase or decrease to achieve your desired balance of flavors.
  • Serve with Ice: Fill your glass with ice cubes before pouring the Michelada mixture. The ice keeps the drink chilled and adds to the overall refreshing experience.
  • Experiment with Additions: While the classic recipe is delicious on its own, you can get creative by adding additional ingredients to suit your taste. Consider adding a splash of Clamato juice, a few dashes of soy sauce, a sprinkle of Tajin seasoning, or even a dash of balsamic vinegar for a unique twist.
  • Enjoy Responsibly: Remember to enjoy your Michelada responsibly and be mindful of alcohol consumption. Pace yourself and drink responsibly to fully appreciate the flavors of the drink.
