Description

This Easy General Tso Chicken is made with chicken thighs, garlic, chili flakes, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. 


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of chicken thighs or breasts cut into 1 inch chunks
  • 1/3 cup of xanthan gum
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoon of minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili flakes 
  • 1 tablespoon of scallions, chopped
  • Oil for frying

For the Sauce: 

  • 2 teaspoons of peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons of rice vinegar 
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce 
  • 1/4 cup water 
  • 3 tablespoons of erythritol
  • 1 tablespoon of xanthan gum

 

Garnish:

  • 2 tablespoons of chopped scallions
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Toss the chicken in the xanthan gum.
  2. Add the peanut butter, rice vinegar, soy sauce, water, erythritol and xanthan gum in a bowl and whisk. 
  3. Heat up oil in your large skillet. 
  4. Add the chicken and fry until crispy, about 3-5 minutes on each side. Use tongs to flip them around. 
  5. Remove the chicken from the pan and drain all but a tablespoon of the oil and add in the garlic, ginger, scallions, and red pepper flakes. 
  6. Cook for 30 seconds until the garlic is fragrant.
  7. Add in the chicken and toss for a minute. 
  8. Add in the sauce and keep stirring until it thickens.
  9. Serve and garnish with scallions and sesame seeds
