Description
A creamy, high-protein french onion dip made with real caramelized onions and Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire
- 2 cups Greek Yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Caramelize the Onions: In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add salt and sugar to the onions and continue to cook for another 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Prepare the Dip Base: In a medium bowl, combine the Greek Yogurt, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and ground black pepper. Mix well.
- Combine and Chill: Once the caramelized onions have cooled, mix them into the Greek Yogurt mixture. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve: Before serving, give the dip a good stir and sprinkle with fresh chopped chives if desired. Serve with Ruffles chips and enjoy!
