Description

This Gochujang Chicken (Air Fryer or Oven) is made with bone-in chicken, seasoning, gochujang paste, soy sauce, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil and baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds bone-in chicken wings, drumsticks, or thighs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. For Oven: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash wings and pat dry. Season the chicken with onion powder, garlic powder, and baking powder. Add the chicken on the baking sheet and bake for 40-45 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 175°F. Remove from oven.
  3. In a large bowl, add the gochujang, soy sauce, ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  4. When the wings are ready and cooked through, add into the bowl and toss to combine.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds.
  1. For Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.
  2. Wash wings and pat dry. Season the chicken with onion powder, garlic powder, and baking powder. Add the chicken in the air fryer and air fry for 20 minutes, flipping once halfway, until internal temperature reaches 175°F.
  3. In a large bowl, add the gochujang, soy sauce, ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  4. When the wings are ready and cooked through, add into the bowl and toss to combine.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Use skin-on chicken wings: Chicken wings with skin on will result in a crispier texture and also help to keep the meat moist while baking.
  • Line the baking sheet with parchment paper: Lining the baking sheet with parchment paper will help prevent the chicken from sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • Adjust the spiciness level to your preference: Gochujang can be quite spicy, so adjust the amount used based on your personal preference.
  • Make sure the chicken is cooked through: Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the chicken has reached an internal temperature of at least 165°F (74°C) before serving.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and scallions: To add some extra flavor and texture, sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced scallions over the finished chicken wings before serving.
