Description

This Strawberry Sundae Recipe is made with fresh strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, ice cream and cool whip.

Ingredients

Scale

Strawberry sauce

  • 16 oz strawberries , sliced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Sundae

  • 1-2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • Optional: ½ cup cool whip

Instructions

  1. Make the strawberry sauce. In a medium saucepan on medium-low heat, add the strawberries, sugar and lemon juice. Wait until the strawberries heat up and begin to soften and eventually start to simmer, allowing the sugar to dissolve. Keep stirring for five minutes, or until a lot of the juices have come out. Remove the strawberries from the heat and use a potato masher to mash up the strawberries. This is your strawberry sauce.
  2. Stick the strawberries in the refrigerator and wait until its cool down.
  3. Make the sundae. Scoop 1-2 cups vanilla ice crema in a bowl. Add 2-3 tablespoons of the strawberry sauce onto the vanilla ice cream. Top with cool whip. Save the strawberry sauce for pancakes, waffles or any future desserts!

Notes

  • Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor. If fresh strawberries are not available, you can use frozen strawberries, but make sure to thaw them before using them.
  • Add a little bit of sugar to the strawberries to bring out their natural sweetness. You can also add a little bit of lemon juice to balance the sweetness.
  • Use your favorite ice cream flavor for the base of the sundae. Vanilla or strawberry ice cream works well with this recipe.
  • Top the sundae with whipped cream and chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.
  • To make the sundae look more visually appealing, try layering the ingredients in a clear glass or sundae dish.
  • Use a good quality chocolate sauce for drizzling over the top of the sundae. You can also use caramel sauce or fruit syrup for a different flavor.
  • Have fun with the toppings! You can add fresh berries, sprinkles, or even a cherry on top to make your sundae extra special.
