Description

This Shishito Peppers Recipe is made with a delicious dipping sauce made of mayonnaise, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and wasabi. 


Ingredients

  • 1 pound shishito peppers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon wasabi paste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shishito peppers and pat them dry with a paper towel. Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.Add the vegetable oil to the hot pan and swirl it around to coat the bottom. Carefully add the shishito peppers to the pan in a single layer. Make sure they are not overcrowded.
  2. Sauté the peppers, stirring occasionally, until they blister and char slightly, about 5-7 minutes. The peppers should be tender and have a slight char on the outside.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and season the peppers with salt to taste.
  4. Transfer the cooked shishito peppers to a serving plate.
  5. In a bowl, add the mayonnaise, soy sauce, rice vinegar and wasabi paste and stir well. 
  6. Dip shishito peppers in this dipping sauce. 

Notes

  1. Select fresh peppers: Choose shishito peppers that are firm, shiny, and vibrant green in color. Avoid peppers that are discolored, wrinkled, or have soft spots.
