Description
This easy homemade pumpkin spice latte recipe is made with real pumpkin, maple syrup, warm spices, milk, and espresso. It’s creamy, frothy, and ready in 10 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk or unsweetened dairy-free milk
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin purée
- 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup, or stevia to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus more for serving
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 shots freshly brewed espresso
Instructions
- Add the milk, pumpkin purée, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves to a small saucepan.
- Cook over medium-low heat, whisking frequently, until the mixture is smooth, steaming, and beginning to lightly simmer. Do not boil.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Carefully transfer the pumpkin milk mixture to a blender. Add the freshly brewed espresso.
- Vent the blender lid slightly, cover it with a folded kitchen towel, and blend for about 10 seconds, until creamy and frothy.
- Pour into a large mug, sprinkle with additional cinnamon, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use pure pumpkin purée, not pumpkin pie filling.
- For a dairy-free latte, use oat milk or almond milk.
- For a sugar-free version, replace the maple syrup with stevia or another sugar-free sweetener.
- If you do not have espresso, substitute approximately ½ cup of strongly brewed coffee.
- Hot liquids expand in a blender. Do not overfill it, and always allow steam to escape.
