Description

This Sausage and Peppers Recipe (Air Fryer and Oven) dish is made with sweet and spicy sausages, bell peppers, onions and air fried to crispy goodness.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 bell peppers, sliced
  • ½ yellow onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil spray


Instructions

Air Fryer

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil.
  3. Place the sausage links in the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. While the sausages cook, toss the bell peppers and onions with a light spray of olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Remove the sausage from the air fryer and slice them into 1-inch pieces.
  6. Add the sliced sausage back into the air fryer basket with the bell peppers and onions.
  7. Cook for an additional 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the sausage is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender.
  8. Serve hot as a main dish or in a sandwich.

Oven:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Add the sliced onions, bell peppers, and sausage on a prepared baking sheet. Add olive oil and salt and toss to combine.
  2. Transfer the sheet pan to the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven, flip the sausages and toss the peppers and onion.
  3. Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the sausages reach internal temperature of 160°F and the peppers and onions are slightly charred on the edges.

Notes

  • Choose the right sausage: Use a good quality sausage, such as Italian sausage or chorizo, for the best flavor. You can use sweet or spicy sausage depending on your preference.
  • Use a variety of peppers: Mix different colors of bell peppers, such as green, red, and yellow, for a colorful and flavorful dish. You can also add other types of peppers, such as poblano or Anaheim, for extra flavor and heat.
